Students to apply sans marks; Directorate of Technical Education to source them

MADURAI: From academic year 2010-11, the process of submitting filled-in application forms for engineering admissions in the State will precede the announcement of Plus-Two results. Students need not include the marks in the forms.

Under a new arrangement, the Directorate of Technical Education will enter the marks in the submitted forms with the assistance of Anna University. K. Ganesan, Principal Secretary to the Higher Education Department, told The Hindu here on Friday that the marks would be collected from the Department of School Education.

“Students will mention their Plus-Two registration number in the engineering admission application form. Based on that their marks will be matched by the Directorate of Technical Education and the final rank list for engineering admissions will be prepared immediately,” the Secretary said.

Minister for Higher Education K. Ponmudy had said on Thursday that the rank list for engineering admissions and Plus-Two results could come out simultaneously. “If the rank list has to be announced for engineering college admission counselling, the process of issuing and receiving applications must be completed before the announcement of results,” Mr. Ganesan said.
